Posted on

We always love to remind our readers/clients that wedding invites are a vital part of the wedding planning. It is the first thing that your guests will receive from you about your upcoming wedding so it sets the first impression on the whole thing!  Hence, spend a little more time to create your bespoke design by talking to the designer, and here we have the 6 important tips to create your once in a lifetime wedding invites!

1. SET YOUR BUDGET

When we are talking about “design”, some designers charge on a project basis covering a specific number of changes/modifications. Some charges on hourly basis. Some even provide free design / templates if you choose their printers to go with.   So do a little bit research, and make a shortlist.

2. SET YOU THEME

Whether it is a vintage inspired theme, or Disneyland theme, it is always good to understand what you are actually looking for.  Then you can set off to find the appropriate designer.

3. FIND THE DESIGNER

To a certain extent, every designer has their own individual artistic style which is hard to change.  If you are looking for “Cute” things, those who regularly produce elegant designs might not be a good fit.  So look at their portfolios and make sure they deliver a consistent style that you are looking for.

4. ASK FOR AN INSPIRATION BOARD

Communicate with your designer and ask him for an inspiration board so as to make sure he/she “understands” what you want during this design process. This will help both of you visually see the things that you are looking for.

5. CHOOSE THE PAPER

There are huge choices of paper and the price can be very different.  You might like to ask the designer to refer you to the printer that they usually work with as it may save some budget and communication time.  Otherwise, just go to normal printer as with my own experience, it is actually the design catches the attention and seldom there are people will comment on what kinds of paper you used!

6. SET THE DELIVERY SCHEDULE

I would suggest to send out an electronic card to your guest for “Save The Date”.  Then you should follow up with the printer to make sure the formal wedding invites will be delivered at least 1 month before your wedding day. This will allow you sufficient time to send them out and track the RSVP.
